What a cutout is

A cutout separates a subject, for example a product or a person, cleanly from the background. The subject can then sit in front of a white, coloured or transparent background, or be placed in a different scene.

Cutting out images is time-consuming and sometimes rather tedious. Fotowerker takes on this work with its own production team, from simple cutouts to sophisticated retouching.

Typical tasks

This is what photographers and companies often have edited in this area. Not what you need? Ask us, we can do much more than is listed.

  • Cutting out products, for example for online shops and catalogues
  • Cutting out people and portraits
  • Cutting out hair and fine outlines (see Portrait)
  • Replacing the background with white, a colour or a new scene
  • Keeping or rebuilding shadows and reflections
  • Preparing cutouts for print and web
  • Cutting out several subjects in one image individually
  • Cutouts in large quantities

Who it is for

Cutouts are needed by photographers, agencies, online shops and businesses with product images, catalogues and promotional materials. If you have a lot of images, you can hand off the time-consuming work and save yourself the hours at the screen.

How an order works

  1. You describe the result

For example: white background, with or without a shadow, and what the images are needed for.

  2. We calculate the effort

A clear object is cut out faster than a subject with fine hair or transparent parts. The price follows the effort.

  3. The production team gets to work

You receive the cutout images exactly as you described them.

Prices

A simple cutout is less work than a cutout with fine hair, and the price follows the effort. We do not have a standard price list but calculate the price exactly based on effort. This way every customer only pays what is necessary. More under Prices.

Frequently asked questions about cutouts

What is a cutout?

What does the price of a cutout depend on?

On the effort. Simple outlines are quicker to finish, while fine hair or complicated edges take more time. Fotowerker has no standard price list and calculates every order precisely.
